Guidelines for professional ultrasound practice updated

Published: 19 March 2019 Ezine

The Society and College of Radiographers/British Medical Ultrasound Society Guidelines for Professional Ultrasound Practice has been updated with minor amendments.

These guidelines are updated every year in December, the last revision being in December 2018.

Due to changes to key websites to which the document links and recent publications by both SCoR and BMUS, it was decided to prepare an updated version including these minor changes now rather than wait until next December.

A summary of the changes made appears on page 8, which include:

  • New BMUS guidance on scanning volunteers, including during pregnancy
  • New multi-profession CPD advice
  • Update on PCOS imaging recommendations
  • An amendment to text
  • Update on PGDs: New documents, templates.
  • New SCoR document on recording of images by patients

The next revision is planned for December 2019 in conjunction with the BMUS annual conference in Harrogate.

The document is clearly marked on each page as Revision 3, December 2018. Minor amendments March 2019.
