HCPC planning changes to CPD guidance

Published: 13 December 2016 Ezine

The Health and Care Professions Council is reviewing its continuing professional development guidance - and it wants the views of registrants.

When the CPD standards were first introduced, the HCPC published guidance about how the standards can be met. Over the past few years the Council had been carrying out research into ‘continuing fitness to practise‘ and whether the approach continues to be correct and relevant.

The result has been that the HCPC has decided to retain the current standards but to revise the guidance and it is about this that they want your views.

Louise Coleman, the Society’s professional officer for education and accreditation, emphasised that, “The consultation is not about the standards or the audit process, just the guidance.”

Louise is compiling an SCoR response and if you would like to include your thoughts, please click here to email comments by 9am on 4 January 2017.

Louise specifically is looking for responses to the following:

1.  Is the guidance clear and easy to understand? How could we improve it?
2.  Could any parts of the guidance be reworded or removed?
3.  Do you have any other comments on the draft guidance, or on the overall approach?
