Help develop National Breast Imaging Academy online learning hub

Published: 19 December 2018 Ezine

The National Breast Imaging Academy’s new online learning hub is a fundamental part of the project to address the national workforce crisis in breast imaging.

There is a package of solutions including apprenticeships, training schemes, and learning resources.

The hub is now moving into the development phase and asking once more for participants.

Radiographers are being invited to help with the development of the online learning hub through one of the following channels:

  • Contributing anonymised cases
  • Writing content for e-learning resources
  • Editing e-learning content
  • Developing an overarching multidisciplinary curriculum for breast imagers
  • Bringing educational experience and IT skills to the project

Dr Megan Bydder, clinical lead, Academy Online project, said, "The Academy Online learning hub is an exciting and innovative development providing training and support for all breast imaging staff.  We are very grateful for HEE’s support of this important national project and have no doubt that the expertise and enthusiasm within the breast imaging community will make the learning hub an immensely valuable resource for years to come."

The hub will include e-learning resources covering the theoretical aspects of the core curriculum, as well as a large validated national case archive and simulation resources.

Over time, the learning hub will develop into a national online multidisciplinary forum to provide professional development for all breast imaging staff.

Does this sound like something you’d like to be involved in? Or perhaps is a perfect opportunity for someone you know? If so, please contact the Breast Imaging Academy for more information.
