Guidance for mental capacity decisions in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy has been published, offering advice about the implementation of the consent process in clinical practice with respect to an adult’s capacity to make decisions.
The guidance from the SCoR shows the importance of understanding and implementing mental capacity legislation, tailored to each individual patient. The guidance will enable radiographers, assistant practitioners and students working in clinical imaging and radiotherapy departments to understand their responsibilities with regards to mental capacity legislation.
This advice is intended to support effective and safe practice for the benefit of the patient, their family and carers.
