NHS England has launched a new document outlining proposals to radically modernise radiotherapy services across England.
The proposals, which have been developed by an expert group of clinicians, commissioners, and patient representatives, focus on the development of networks of non-surgical clinical oncology services.
The introduction to the publication states: ‘‘This engagement guide sets out NHS England’s case for change and proposals, at an early stage in development, for modernising radiotherapy services through the establishment of networked non-surgical clinical oncology services.
“Our aim is to turn the ambition for radiotherapy services set out in the Taskforce report and the Vision for Radiotherapy publications into a reality.
“This will mean that people who require radiotherapy treatment will get access to high quality, safe and efficient services regardless of where they live.”
NHS England is now seeking feedback on the guidance as part of a consultation phase.
The consultation runs until 23 December, and you can share your views simply by completing the online survey.
In addition, NHS England is holding a webinar (details of this webinar can be found on the NHS England website) and four public engagement events to support the development of these proposals in Birmingham, Leeds, Reading and London.
You can find out more information about how to attend these engagement events via the NHS England website.
