Radiographer struck off following drug conviction

A radiographer has been struck off the HCPC Register for a criminal conviction.

Christopher Walsh was found guilty of stealing medical drugs and paraphernalia from the Manchester NHS Trust and self-administering the drugs.

Mr Walsh did not attend the closed Health and Care Professions Council Tribunal Service hearing but he was represented.

The HCPC panel stated, "The appropriate and proportionate sanction in this case is a Striking Off Order. This sanction protects the public and reflects the seriousness of the registrant’s conduct. Public confidence in the profession and the regulator would be undermined by the imposition of any lesser sanction."

The panel did issue an interim suspension order for 18 months to give Mr Walsh the opportunity to appeal.
