Radiographer suspended for lack of competence

Wilson Huelgas has been suspended from the HCPC Register for a period of 12 months on the grounds of a lack of competence.

A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mr Huelgas attended an interview with the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, at which he was unable to demonstrate adequate knowledge of radiography procedures.

The panel further heard Mt Huelgas was unable to answer questions in relation to ionising radiation, NRI contra-indications, IV contrasts, creatinine levels, data protection procedures, or quality assurance procedures.

Panel Chair Brian Wroe commented: “There was no evidence available to the panel of insight or remediation, nor any reassurance about the ongoing risks presented if Mr Huelgas were able to continue in radiography practice.”

Mr Huelgas was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
