Rowena M N Stone has been suspended from the Health and Care Professions Council Register for a period of 12 months on grounds of lack of competence and misconduct whilst employed as a Band 5 Radiographer at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

A panel of the HCPC Tribunal Services Conduct and Competence Committee heard that multiple failings between 1 May 2012 and September 2015 included taking x-ray images of incorrect body parts, poor quality images and failing to take appropriate images.

The panel further heard that Ms Stone misfiled images and that incidents involved some patients receiving unnecessary irradiation.

Panel chair Catherine Boyd commented: “Ms Stone lacks insight as to the extent to which the deficiencies in her practise and her lack of knowledge impacted upon patients, her colleagues and the trust’s reputation. The Panel has concluded that there is currently a high risk of repetition.”

Ms Stone was present but not represented at the hearing.
