A team of four diagnostic radiographers from Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Arrowe Park Site, are taking part in a charity motor rally to raise funds for the hospital trust.
Emma Glaysher, deputy clinical tutor; Jenny Cotterell and Grace Harrison, diagnostic radiographers; and Cara Jones, interventional radiographer, will be driving a banger car across Europe to Venice in five days.
“We are all very excited for the adventures, challenges and new experiences that drive will offer but are feeling a little nervous about the possibilities of the car breaking down or getting lost,” Emma Glaysher said.
They are the only all-female team to attend the Motoscape Rally and have already
raised over £7,000 with the help and support of ‘generous family and colleagues within the Radiology team at Arrowe Park Hospital.’
Emma said, “'Dosebusters' is our chosen team name, which evolved from the vital aspect of our roles being to ensure that any radiation dose used is safely monitored and from turning a Vauxhall Astra Estate into our version of ECTO from the Ghostbusters films.”
They are hoping to raise the profile of the radiographer’s role, which has been an on-going target since World Radiography Day 2018.
The team are hoping to raise £15,000 for the #motorvateforthe8 charity. You can donate via the Just Giving page.
