Staff and students from the Diagnostic Radiography and Medical Ultrasound programmes in the Department of Healthcare Practice at the University of Derby took part in a research showcase event at the University in July.

The day was a celebration of research within the department, and delegates attending included clinical partners, as well as staff and students.

The team were delighted to welcome Dr Bev Snaith from Mid Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust as the opening keynote speaker for the day, talking about her research journey, and recent appointment as the first Clinical Professor in Diagnostic Radiography in the UK.

It was an inspiring start to the day! This was followed by presentations by Heather Venables (ultrasound programme leader) and Gillian Coleman (lecturer in ultrasound) sharing their research, and a live video link to Ghana which enabled ultrasound PhD student Yaw Waife to share his doctoral work.

As well as this a number of staff and students exhibited posters. Students from the MSc (Pre-Registration) Diagnostic Radiography programme and full time MSc Medical Ultrasound programme exhibited posters outlining their research proposal for their independent study projects. Staff posters covered topics such as return to practice, simulation, placements etc.

All in all, it was an inspiring day.
