A free study day taking place on 5 May at Sheffield Hallam University will tackle the issues around public health promotion and radiography.

The event is free, with lunch provided, and open to any individual with an interest in public health and the radiography profession including; students, assistants, radiographers and academic staff.

The morning will consist of a series of keynote speakers including:

  • Sue Johnson, Professional Officer at the Society of Radiographers
  • Dr Leslie Robinson, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader at the University of Salford
  • Daniel Hutton – Change Manager at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, co investigator for CoRips project to explore enablers and barriers to smoking cessation interventions in Radiography
  • Kirsty Hoole – The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, conducting research to explore patient views of smoking during radiotherapy
  • Laura Pattinson – Sheffield Hallam University, conducting CoRips project to explore enablers and barriers to smoking cessation interventions in Radiography.

The afternoon will consist of a Q&A workshop, where questions will be posed to the audience and discussion will follow.

This will include some discussion on the barriers and enablers to implementation of public health into radiography practice.

The final session prior to closing will be a series of short case studies presented by our clinical colleagues to showcase the excellent work that radiographers are doing to promote health to our patients.
