The Society of Radiographers is seeking to recruit a Director of Industrial Strategy and Member Relations who has the ability and integrity to become a key member of the organisation’s high functioning Senior Executive Team.

The Society is a special register trade union and professional body representing members in the NHS and the private health care sector. The majority of members are registered radiographers in both the diagnostic and therapeutic disciplines. We welcome members in related disciplines from all of the non-medical workforces in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, the Presidential Team and the UK Council, this position, together with other senior posts, facilitates the smooth running, and helps improve the efficiency of the organisation. The post holder will be responsible for leadership of the trade union function and of the organisation-wide priority to provide excellent member relations.

In this diverse role, the post holder will work closely with the Chief Executive, being responsible for the strategic direction in relation to industrial relations, considering both the priorities for members and our contribution within the wider trade union movement. Leadership of the SoR negotiating and political influencing activities will require maintenance of contacts and positions in government and “arm’s length” organisations.

If you have strong leadership skills and significant experience in a trade union or industrial relations role, together with a track record of progressive member relations, then this exciting post could be for you. The successful candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification relevant to industrial relations, employment law or political influencing and have relevant further qualifications at least to master’s level.
