Students urged to comment on apprenticeship standards

Published: 28 September 2018 Ezine

Diagnostic and Therapeutic radiographer apprenticeship standard consultations are going ‘live’ on the Department for Education consultation hub on Monday 1st October.

The consultation closes on Friday 5th October and, due to this very short timescale, the SCoR is unable to take members’ responses, therefore student members are encouraged to submit their responses directly to the consultation.

Background

The national apprenticeship standards that have been developed must follow the standards and criteria set by the College of Radiographers and the Health and Care Professions Council. The Institute of Apprenticeships is overseeing the development process and will assess the standards against apprenticeship requirements.

Further degree level apprenticeships are being developed and there will be opportunities at master’s and doctoral levels, as well as the support workforce at levels 2, 3 and 4. Each proposed apprenticeship standard must be approved for development by the Institute of Apprenticeships.

When they are developed and approved, these will be the standards for diagnostic and therapeutic radiography in England. Employers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland pay the apprenticeship levy but have not sought to develop diagnostic and therapeutic radiographer apprenticeships.

Take part in the consultations.
