Congratulations to Sue Webb who has been elected as Vice-President of UK Council for the Society of Radiographers.

Sue, a CT radiographer since 1992, has been the Council member for the Eastern region for the last three years, and will assume her new post in July.

During her time on Council, Sue has been an ever-present at demonstrations, events and at the Annual Delegates Conference, where she has taken the role as delegate lead for the region three years in a row.

Sue has also appeared on local radio and national TV, being interviewed on Channel 4 News to speak on behalf of Council ahead of the industrial action in early 2015.

Sue said: “We need a strong and cohesive Council to face the challenges ahead, with cuts in funding and training budgets, and to raise the profile of Council with our members to show we are working hard on their behalf.

“I hope to be able to inspire other Council members to meet these challenges.”

She added: “I am also passionate about raising the profile of the profession with the public, making people aware of how key the radiology team are to every journey through healthcare, both in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields.”

Sue will assume the role of Vice-President at the Presidential Inauguration ceremony, taking place in July.

Steve Herring will take over as President of the Society, with Sheila Hassan moving to the role of Chair of UK Council and Immediate Past President, and Gareth Thomas becoming President Elect.
