The show's on the road

Radiography Rad-Show is the name of a road show that recently started touring the north west of England. A student-led initiative, the aim of the programme is to raise awareness of radiography.

Presenters speak about the responsibilities and duties of a radiographer, the expected salary, qualifications needed and also their experiences as students. Rad-Show has been invited into a large number of schools and colleges across Greater Manchester. It is largely promoted via Twitter with schools and colleges making contact online.

The students who started it, Aqab Hussain and Aysha Moosa, now want to promote and spread rad-show across the UK. Interested students and universities are welcome to contact Aqab and Aysha for further details.

Rad-Show would like to give special thanks to lecturers Emma Dodd, Fred Murphy, Rob Higgins and Laura Kelly at University of Salford. Also the volunteer rad-show presenters: Ahmed Mussa, Dahir Kadije, Haley Taylor, Kate Prendergast, Kulsum Omarjee, Lucy Orrell, Maryam Ahmed, Moctar Dirie, Sabah Sadique, Ayesha Sayed, Abigail Faye, Sana Naeem, Asia Patel, Sara Ali and Ridwan Habeeb for their time and enthusiasm.

Suggestions for resources and any feedback with ideas for future shows is welcome. Also, volunteers are needed. They don’t have to be students - radiographers and assistant practitioners are encouraged to join the movement today.
