The tsunami of Covid-19 information and guidance isn't slowing

Published: 03 April 2020 Ezine

Most of the information we sent to members in the first issue of this Covid-19 update only a week ago has been superseded. In some instances, several times over.

Below is an at-a-glance digest of what has been added in the past week. We want to be sure that you know what resources there are to support you in the workplace and in your clinical practice.

The single issue most exercising members at the moment is PPE (closely followed by Covid-19 testing). The government issued new PPE guidance following consultation with the Society and the other AHPs. We, and the other professions, strongly feel that it doesn't go far enough but acknowledge it is an improvement on the previous version. We shall continue to lobby for further changes to protect the radiography workforce.

Members of Parliament wrote to Matt Hancock, the Secretary of State for Health, urging him to prioritise the supply of PPE. Tim Farron MP, said, "The need for a proper supply of PPE is clear. Both clinicians and patients are at unacceptable risk without it."

The excellent article by Dr Nick Woznitza and two radiologist colleagues, Covid-19 pandemic: Summary of current and emerging issues for radiographers, has been updated in light of the new guidance.

We continue to refresh and add to the Covid-19 section of the website every day. Please do check it regularly. All material - new and updated - shows the date it was posted to make it easier to see what has changed since your last visit.

Finally, we have to say again how grateful we are to each and every member who is working through the most challenging times and unprecedented circumstances. Patients and the public have enormous regard for what you do and so does everyone at the Society.

Please do send your pictures, stories, messages of thanks to colleagues, experiences and anything else to Synergy News.

Please remember, if you have a question about your membership, or need work-place based advice and support, do not hesitate to contact us.
