A recording of Nick Barlow's lecture is available in full.

A consultant radiographer is holding a free-to-register online lecture on chest reporting, covering the background and radiological appearances of a variety of pulmonary infections, including bacterial pneumonias, TB, fungal infections, viruses and parasites, as well as Covid-19.

Nick Barlow, consultant radiographer at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, will host the CPD Now endorsed event at 8pm on Monday, 6 July via Microsoft Teams.

Learning outcomes are:

  1. The basic pathophysiology of:
    -Bacterial pneumonias
    -Pulmonary tuberculosis
    -Fungal infections
    -Viral infections
    -Parasitic infection
  2. To understand the etiology and clinical presentations of these disorders.
  3. To familiarise yourself with the key radiographic manifestations of specific pulmonary infections.
  4. To build a solid foundation knowledge to help with differential diagnosis.

The lecture is free but donations are requested for the SoR Benevolent Fund to help radiographers and their families suffering from long term hardship.

Nick said, “I am doing this on behalf of the Benevolent Fund to raise funds for those who really need it in these challenging times. I also want this to be a free learning resource for anyone who may be interested in image reporting, such as students, radiographers, other healthcare professionals, and colleagues from overseas.

"If successful, I hope to run these sessions regularly over the coming months.”

The lecture will be recorded and available to view after the event.

The lecture supports CPD Now outcomes 01 Practical skills, 02 Knowledgebase, 03 Work safely, 06 Manage knowledge/information, and 019 Evidence to support practice.
