Have your say on a single national uniform for NHS staff in England

Join the consultation: would you like a standard uniform and in what style?

Published: 14 April 2021 Government & NHS

An NHS consultation is open for views on a new standardised national healthcare uniform for England.

The ‘National Healthcare Uniform - Workforce Consultation’ wants to know if a standardised uniform will benefit those who need it most. Wales and Scotland already have national uniforms.

The consultation also aims to support future uniform design, ensure it is fit for purpose and able to meet the demands of care delivery.

The new uniform has been proposed by NHS Supply Chain: Hotel Services.

‘The consultation covers two main areas: how much agreement there is for a national uniform and the garment styles and features required for a well designed and fit for purpose uniform.

NHS Supply Chain says the ‘a national uniform will offer a strong national identity and utilise the buying power of the NHS by delivering cost savings’.

The 25 minute consultation closes 5pm 31 May 2021.

A National Healthcare Uniform Proposal Workforce Consultation was published in April 2021 which provides background information on the consultation
