The Society of Radiographers has responded to a national consultation on a new Allied Health Professional Framework to ensure member voices are heard.
The SoR hosted two workshops attended by members and professional, national and regional officers to inform its response to a consultation on a new national framework for Allied Health Professionals from NHS England.
The SoR’s response stresses:
Dr Amy Robertson, professional officer for education at the SoR and host of one of the workshops, added: “We were delighted to run these workshops to capture and amplify the voices of radiographers as part of this important consultation.
"Radiographers are at the heart of delivering and transforming patient care, and it is essential that their expertise and experiences help shape the future AHP framework. This is an opportunity not simply to describe the future we want, but to ensure we create the conditions needed to deliver it.”
The SoR's response also outlined the need for greater education, training and advanced practice opportunities for the profession. It highlighted that NHS England's plans to deliver safe services, prevention, innovation, research and digital development are dependent on the workforce having the capacity, leadership, employment conditions and infrastructure to act.
NHS England is developing a new national framework for Allied Health Professionals for 2027-2032. It aims to set a long-term vision for AHPs’ contribution to health and care.
