Members of the SoR are being urged to renew their Health and Care Professions Council registration as the renewal window is now open.
In order to remain a practising radiographer for the next two-year cycle, members must reapply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) between 1 December 2025 and 28 February 2026.
The renewal process involves making a professional declaration and paying a fee.
Charlotte Beardmore urged radiographers, “don’t delay”.
She said: “Committing to renew your HCPC registration safeguards your legal right to practise and demonstrates your commitment to patient safety and professional standards.
“Acting promptly and renewing early in the renewal cycle will offer you peace of mind knowing this is complete, and that you are able to continue your practice and career as a radiographer.
“Registration is not only a legal requirement, but it enhances your professional credibility, builds public trust, and signifies a commitment to providing safe and effective care.”
Radiographers working in ultrasound should refer to the SoR’s resources for sonographers, as ‘sonographer’ is not a title protected by the HCPC. Eligible members should still register with the HCPC or another appropriate regulatory body, such the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Any other queries can be directed to the HCPC directly here.
The HCPC regulates 15 different health and care professions within the UK, including Occupational Therapists, Paramedics, Biomedical Scientists and more.
The Council sets standards for education, training and practice, while also maintaining a register of professionals who must meet its standards in order to remain there.
