Health Campaigns Together calls for national demonstration

26 January, 2018

Health Campaigns Together and the People’s Assembly are organising a national day of action on 3 February to lobby the government over the current crisis engulfing the NHS.

There will be regional events organised locally, details of which can be found on the Health Campaigns Together and People’s Assembly websites, plus a march and rally in London.

The London demo is at noon on 3 February, with attendees asked to meet at Gower Street before moving to the rally.

There are also days of action in the East Midlands on Monday, 29 January and Liverpool on 2 February.

The campaign is to lobby the government to:

  • End the spending freeze and the cap on NHS pay: a cash injection to restore the NHS budget, and commitment to increased funding each year.
  • Abandon plans for further cuts or closures of NHS hospitals and services until adequate and proven alternative services are in place.
  • Halt the imposition of 'new models of care' and 'accountable care' pending full public and parliamentary scrutiny.
  • Repeal the 2012 Health & Social Care Act and regulations, and reinstate the NHS as a public service, publicly accountable, publicly owned and publicly funded through general taxation.
