HEE seeks views on major workforce consultation

9 March, 2018

Health Education England is asking for feedback on a major workforce strategy, the first system-wide approach in England for health and social care services for 25 years.

The draft strategy sets out the current workforce landscape, what has been achieved since 2012, the work underway and describes an approach to shaping the face of the NHS and social care workforce for the next two decades.

Facing the Facts, Shaping the Future – a draft health and care workforce strategy for England to 2027 condenses and considers the outputs of major workforce plans for the priorities laid out in the Five Year Forward View – cancer, mental health, maternity, primary and community care and urgent and emergency care.

It has been developed by the whole health and care system, including stakeholders such as HEE, NHS England, NHS Improvement, Public Health England and the Department of Health.

A consultation with a final strategy will be published in June/July 2018 to coincide with the NHS turning 70.

Charlotte Beardmore, SCoR Director of Professional Policy, said: “I urge all members and leaders to respond to this consultation – your expertise is required to show how the radiography profession can contribute to the delivery of healthcare over the coming years.

“This consultation will be pivotal in shaping the future workforce so don’t miss your chance to influence this important work.”
