The organisation for pregnancy and baby loss has issued a progress review about how the initiative has grown over the past 12 months and the resources available to sonographers.
The National Bereavement Care Pathway (NBCP) exists to improve the 'quality of care for families at all stages of pregnancy and baby loss up to 12 months in neonatal settings or sudden infant death'.
Developments in 2019 include:
- Completion of the NBCP pilot programme in 32 sites and the publication of the fourth and final evaluation report
- Issuing of the sixth version of the NBCP guidelines for health professionals
- Adoption of nine bereavement care standards
- Delivery of two e-learning for health NBCP training modules
- Expansion of the programme from 32 to 51 sites, as well as expressions of interest of 64 others.
