Fujifilm has bought Hitachi’s medical division. The merger is key to Fujifilm competing in future with the radiology industry’s largest vendors.
The £1.28 billion acquisition has been approved by the Hitachi board and is expected to be completed in July 2020.
Hitachi’s MRI, CT, x-ray, and ultrasound operations were included in the deal, as well as the electronic health records business, with annual revenues of almost a billion pounds.
Fujifilm have said they will grow operations by applying their image processing and artificial intelligence technologies to Hitachi’s products.
