SoR backs call for upgrade in PPE for healthcare staff

Unions seek review by Public Health England

Published: 21 January 2021 SoR backs call for upgrade in PPE for healthcare staff

At a special meeting of the NHS Social Partnership Forum on Wednesday 20 January, NHS trade unions persuaded NHS Employers to join them in calling for a national review of the current guidance on PPE.

This follows concerns that the newer strains and rising infection rates mean PPE may need to be upgraded, and that FFP3 masks may be necessary for all staff in clinical settings.

Minimising the risk of infection for staff must be an absolute priority. Please keep checking the SoR website for updates on the response to the call for a review.
