The Society of Radiographers tries it's best to represent all communities that make up the vibrant radiography workforce we continuously support; and this year is no different! The LGBTQI+ Equalise Working Group will be continuing representing their community at another pride march and this year it will be Swansea Pride 2026!
The group will be taking pride in their profession by marching the streets of Swansea together and they are asking YOU to accompany them. You don't have to purchase any tickets, make any donations or meet any requirements other than bringing your postive energy.
Here are some quotes from members who have attended previous pride events.
I think everyone should incorporate Pride in all of their life; I think it’s really important that we treat everyone as equals. The Society of Radiographers believes that, we here today believe that.
It’s great to come around all the different devolved nations, rather than just staying in England. We think it’s important to show members that everyone is welcome in the group, no matter where they’re based. It’s good to show that the society is inclusive – it does support these things.
It was personally an incredible experience for me, and it boosted my self-esteem and self-acceptance. I have previously attended the parade but being in it was really special. I was with a fantastic bunch of radiographers, celebrating identities and the progress that has been made in terms of LGBTQI+ rights and visibility. Since we still have a way to go, I hope I can attend future pride parades and be further involved in initiatives to make more progress.
To paraphrase RuPaul, we have to have pride in ourselves to have pride in our profession.
Joining together with my colleagues to show what a supportive and progressive community our profession is was incredibly important – and having the full support of our organisation, rather than just words, really means a lot.
