The Society of Radiographers tries it's best to represent all communitiies that makes up the vibrant radiography workforce we continuously support; and this year is no different! The LGBTQI+ Equalise Working Group will be continuing representing their community at another pride march and this year it will be Swansea Pride 2026!
The group will be taking pride in their profession by marching the streets of Swansea together and they are asking YOU to accompany them. You don't have to purchase any tickets, make any donations or meet any requirements other than bringing your postive energy.
Here are some quotes from members who attended last year's march in London.
“I felt it was vital to join the Together Alliance march to demonstrate unity against far right ideologies that threaten equality, especially for women and LGBTQIA+ people and migrants. Being part of a diverse crowd of like minded individuals mattered deeply and has inspired me moving forwards. I was proud to represent both the SOR and my City, St.George’s union UCU, demonstrating to students what it means to stand up for our shared values in healthcare.”
“Flags, witty placards, vocal chants, brass and samba melodies filled the air at yesterday’s Together Alliance march in London, the air was filled with determination, positivity and a huge sense of community. I was filled with a sense of belonging and enormous pride that so many had travelled to show their strength of feeling against racism, bigotry, misogyny, and exclusion."
Given the current trend (both domestically and internationally) towards increasingly widespread views which threaten to undo all of the positive equality work achieved over the past couple of decades. I couldn’t in good conscience not join this march, these are genuinely troubling times for many groups, with increasing fear of discriminatory acts in day to day life becoming commonplace.
In addition to James' quote he also had this to say:
I was proud to see the Society of Radiographers taking a proactive stance in joining this march and it was reassuring to join our President there and see how strongly she felt on these topics. I hope this is the start of many more proactive actions from the organisation to come to ensure that our ethos of Equality, Diversity, Inclusivity and Belonging is truly at the forefront of our actions
