14 February, 2018
NHS 70

A competition to celebrate the NHS’s 70th birthday has been launched.

The NHS70 Parliamentary Awards gives English MPs the opportunity to put forward their 'local health and care heroes' for national recognition.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the House of Commons Terrace on 4 July 2018, the eve of the NHS’s birthday. It is part of a range of activities organised by NHS England and NHS Improvement and partners to celebrate the achievements of the National Health Service and those who work for and with it.

MPs will consider nominations from individuals and organisations and then choose who to put forward for the national award by Friday, 23 March.

There are 10 award categories, including:

  • The Excellence in Cancer Care Award
  • The Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care Award
  • The Person-Centred Care Champion Award
  • The Care and Compassion Award
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award

Individuals and organisations can write to MPs and encourage them to submit nominations on their behalf.
