8 February, 2019
Elderly care

Dementia is common and is increasing amongst people over 65 years old.

Many dementia patients undergo imaging and many of those who are also living with cancer will receive radiotherapy. All patients deserve to be treated in a dignified and respectful way and with minimal distress.

Dr Tracy O’Regan, SoR professional officer for clinical imaging and research, is hosting a webinar on Thursday, 14 March, which will review the latest guidance and strategies around caring for people with dementia in imaging and radiotherapy departments.

The webinar session will include:

  • A contemporary definition of dementia
  • Sharing of information and identification of a person living with dementia;
  • Approaches to support within a clinical imaging or radiotherapy setting
  • Strategies for person-centred communication
  • Mental capacity guidance and duties with respect to consent
  • Recognising and responding to changes in behaviour
  • A review of SCoR clinical practice guidelines and NICE guidance

It will run on March 14 from 2-3pm and the cost is £39.
