NICE quality standard for renal or ureteric stones

A quality standard has been published to contribute to improvements in outcomes for people with renal or ureteric stones.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance covers assessing and managing renal and ureteric stones in children, young people and adults. It describes high-quality care including quality of life, self-management, and early definitive treatment.

Kidney stones affect about three in 20 men and 10% of women at some stage in their lives. They can be extremely painful and if left untreated can lead to kidney infections or the kidney not working properly.
