Opportunity to contribute to the work of your profession!

20 July, 2020

Expressions of interest are invited from Society of Radiographers’ members who would like to be considered for appointment to a new working party: Artificial Intelligence and Progressive Technology.

The tenure of the working group will be for approximately six months in the initial instance.

The working group is being established following the publication of our AI statement earlier this year.

The broad purpose of the group is to represent the voices of the radiographic workforce in the development of technology, with aims to improve care in clinical imaging and radiotherapy.

Further, the group aims to act as a point of contact and to provide clinical, educational and research related radiography advice and partnerships for stakeholders who seek to collectively develop healthcare technology.

It is intended that the working party will meet online, will have their own synapse group, and will:

  1. Collaborate proactively with stakeholders in the informatics and health and life sciences/medical technology fields, to aid the development of innovative, safe, effective and sustainable services.
  2. Consult with SoR members and provide updates.
  3. In partnership with patients and the public, promote and facilitate the research and development of radiography professional body standards for practice when using AI and new health technology.
  4. Work in cooperation with a range of organisations to promote and facilitate the implementation of AI and health technology once unequivocal benefits have been demonstrated.
  5. Contribute to the work of the College of Radiographers Education and Career Framework review.

Applications are invited from all sections of the radiography community and from all four countries in the United Kingdom.

Those wishing to apply must be:

  • In good standing with the SoR (as evidenced by a strong membership record)
  • Respected and held in high esteem by their peers
  • Excellent collaborators and active team members
  • Energetic and enthusiastic in relation to the profession/education
  • Able and willing to devote time and energy to the group between meetings by email and other electronic means.

For further information or to submit an expression of interest (no longer than one side of A4), please contact Tracy O’Regan.

Expressions of interest should include your SoR membership number, your length of membership, your HCPC registration number (if applicable), and should identify clearly the nature of the expertise you would expect to bring to the group.

Applications should be emailed to Tracy by midday on Wednesday 12 August 2020.
