Radiographer Claire Lambert and her colleagues have raised £2,100 for Bowel Cancer UK after her partner was diagnosed with the disease.
During Bowel Cancer Awareness month in April, the team completed the Step Up for 30 challenge, which involved doing something active for 30 minutes every day.
Claire, senior radiographer at Broomfield Hospital, Mid and South Essex University NHS Trust, was team captain for a huge range of activities. These included running, cycling, tennis, walking, skipping, online exercise classes, cosmic yoga, dancing and housework.
‘When we worked night shifts, we even managed to fit in our exercise by skipping or doing press ups in the CT scanner between patients,’ Claire explained.
‘It is a cause close to my heart because my partner, Adam, was diagnosed with stage-three bowel cancer last December. It has been a tough few months and we needed something positive to focus on. Adam joined in when he could but he was recovering from surgery.’
She added: ‘We have been lucky to have amazing support from family, friends and the radiology department at Broomfield, who supported me during lockdown when I was not able to see anyone.’
