The SoR has thanked two long-standing members and health and safety representatives for their years of service to the Society now that they are retiring.

Beverly Brigden and Jill Howes are both retiring from work and as SoR-accredited health and safety representatives.

Now Richard Evans, CEO of the SoR, and the organisation as a whole wish to thank them for their many contributions to the Society of Radiographers.

A legacy of good practice

Richard said: “Alongside the difference you have made to radiographers your careers will have touched countless lives of patients and their families. A really amazing legacy of good practice, caring and improved lives. You have much to be proud of and I hope that retirement will bring many opportunities and new experiences… alongside a much-deserved rest!”

Bev and Jill were thanked for their many years supporting the London Regional Committee and South East Regional Committee respectively, and for their support of the Annual Delegates Conference delegations.

In these roles and through support in the Health and Safety Forum, Richard explained, the two have made real differences to the working lives of their colleagues, both within their own departments and around the UK.

Strong voice on health and safety

Rhys Martin, health and safety policy officer at the SoR, added: “Since I began working with the Society of Radiographers in 2021, Bev and Jill have been a constant support for me in my role and have continued to represent the members they support superbly.

“They have given years of dedication, commitment, and been a strong voice on health and safety, which has made a lasting difference to the NHS and our members. Thank you to both for supporting our members, officers and making NHS workplaces safer.”

Richard added: “I know that each person that you have helped will join me in thanking you and acknowledging the professionalism and friendly support that you have given, often in the most difficult of circumstances.

“In the SoR we are justifiably proud of our accredited representatives and the way they embody the values of our profession and our union. It has been such a pleasure to meet you at events over the years and to recognise the very high esteem in which you are held by friends, colleagues and fellow SoR members.

“Thank you once again on behalf of our profession.”
