Therapeutic radiographer clinical fellows chosen

Jo McNamara and Hazel Pennington have been appointed Macmillan Therapeutic Radiographer Clinical Fellows.

Funded by Health Education England, the part-time roles seconded for one year have been made by Macmillan Cancer Support, in collaboration with the SCoR.

Jo McNamara is a senior lecturer in therapeutic radiography at Sheffield Hallam University and leads on the recruitment of students to the course programmes.

Hazel Pennington is the principal therapeutic radiographer for proton beam therapy at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

The work they will be involved in will include:

  • Identifying and capturing the diversity of roles by Macmillan therapeutic radiographers
  • Informing and supporting the promotion of different therapeutic radiographer roles
  • Advising on relevant learning and development content for professionals provided by Macmillan
  • Working with universities to promote therapeutic radiographers as part of health and care foundation programmes.
