Survey on patient contact shielding in Europe

Deadline of 1 July for heads of radiology departments to complete

Published: 14 June 2021 Radiation protection

An increasing number of studies, position statements and recommendations have raised concerns regarding the utility and effectiveness of the use of patient contact shielding.

In 2020, representatives of the European Society of Radiology's (ESR) EuroSafe Imaging campaign, the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS), the European Federation of Organisations in Medical Physics (EFOMP), the  European Society of Paediatric Radiology (ESPR), and the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) founded the GAPS (Gonad and patient shielding) group with the purpose of producing a European consensus statement on the use of patient contact shielding as well as evaluating the current practice of patient contact shielding in Europe.

We would like to invite you to complete a short survey to collect information from radiology departments across Europe on current practice in relation to patient contact shielding.

This survey is addressed to the heads of radiology departments or their representatives, please provide just one answer per department.

The survey consists of 26 questions and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The deadline for completion is 1 July 2021.
