Radiographer shortlisted for ‘We are the City’ 2017 prize

16 May, 2017

Janice St. John-Matthews, Associate Head of Department for AHPs at the University of the West of England, has been shortlisted for a national award celebrating rising stars in education and academia.

The We Are the City Rising Star (WATC) Top 100 Rising Stars awards celebrate 100 female contributors who represent the future leaders and role models of tomorrow across twenty different industries.

The awards are the first to focus on the UK’s female talent pipeline below senior management level.

“I was not expecting to be shortlisted and was honored to learn a few months ago I had been nominated,” said Janice.

“Being nominated is special as these awards recognise that careers for women may follow different timescales, hence the Top 100 Rising Star awards does not have any age restrictions included within the criteria.

“For me the road to this point of my career has had a number of twists and turns.

“However, during my time at the University of the West of England, Bristol, I have been fortunate to have had several development opportunities and these have no doubt factored in me being included in the shortlist.

“I am excited to be representing myself, the profession of radiography and the University.”

Judging now begins to identify the final five winners for each category which will be announced on the 19 June 2017.

However, a public vote also determines one winner out of the five winners of each category.
