Updates to the SoR’s privacy policy surrounding use of technology and AI will ensure due diligence and enhance efficiency in the society’s usage of them.
Policy changes focus on ensuring staff use approved AI tools, the launch of a learning management system, and emphasise commitment to responsible innovation.
These changes, in particular the learning management system, were due to be discussed at the SoR Reps’ Summit on Tuesday 11 November.
Richard Evans, CEO of the SoR, said: “These updates reflect our commitment to embracing technology that enhances learning, professional development, and the overall member experience. Through tools such as Microsoft Copilot and our new learning platform, RAD Academy, we’re supporting radiography professionals to learn, collaborate, and deliver care more effectively at every stage of their careers.”
Staff will be using only secure, approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance efficiency and improve the services it provides to members.
These tools are used to assist staff with administrative and analytical tasks, such as drafting, summarising, retrieving, or analysing information that is already held within SoR and CoR systems.
Usage will follow internal guidance and training, and any personal data entered into an AI system must be necessary for the task, handled securely, and checked by a human before being used in communications or decisions.
The introduction of a new online learning system, meanwhile, is intended to support members’ training and professional development.
Personal data, such as name, email, role, learning progress and assessment results, is collected to provide, manage, and improve the learning experience.
These updates highlight the SoR’s continued focus on using technology safely, transparently, and responsibly to benefit members and the wider professional community, it added.
