SoR provides a response to the Scottish government's plan for an NHS restructure
Last week, Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, announced plans (Programme for Government 2026- 2031) to replace the existing 14 health boards with just two bodies for east and west Scotland, and separate arrangements for the Scottish islands.
SoR has said that the proposed restructure creates huge uncertainty for its members in the NHS and is a costly distraction from improving services for patients and addressing structural issues around staffing and pay for staff.
SoR's National Officer for Scotland, Chris Kennedy, said:
"Although the Scottish government has committed to avoiding compulsory redundancies, the scale and impact of the proposed restructure is vast and its potential impact on all NHS staff and healthcare services would be enormous."
"SoR will ensure that the interests and voice of our members are heard loud and clear through all the consultations and negotiations so that any structural changes are not to their detriment."
"As both the trade union and professional body for the radiography workforce, SoR will work alongside other allied health professions to defend our Scottish members terms and conditions, both nationally and locally."
SoRs Scottish reps are meeting to discuss the proposed restructure this week. Members are invited to reach out to their rep with immediate concerns and questions.
