The Radiotherapy Board has launched the green Radiotherapy Framework, containing actions all radiotherapy healthcare professionals can take to improve sustainability.
In acknowledgement of radiotherapy departments’ contributions to environmentally sustainable working, the green Radiotherapy Framework (gRTF) will recognise departments for their efforts.
Through the gRTF, radiotherapy departments can apply for an award to indicate their current level of sustainable working and be recognised with a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate, valid for two years.
The NHS is aiming to be net zero by 2040, in accordance with global awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions and find more sustainable ways of working and living in order to limit global warming and climate change.
To support and encourage radiotherapy departments to adopt more environmentally friendly practices, and therefore contribute to the NHS response to climate change, the Radiotherapy Board launched its gRTF.
Containing actions that all healthcare professionals in radiotherapy can take to achieve this standard, the gRTF marks a tangible demonstration of commitment to sustainable working.
For a full list of compliant actions, policies and procedures, find out more information here.
The Radiotherapy Board is encouraging departments to consider applying for an award now.
All evidence submitted by departments will be evaluated by the Radiotherapy Board’s Environmental Sustainability Working Group and a recommendation for an Award (or not) will be submitted to the Board for decision
Full details, including Terms and Conditions, are available here.
There is no closing date – departments can apply at any time, when they feel they have sufficient qualifying evidence.
