At the TUC conference this year there were many fringe events but one that stood out, not just because former England footballers Bryan Robson and Viv Anderson were in attendance, was hosted by ‘Show Racism the Red Card'.

Wear Red Day this year is on Friday in Scotland (5 October) and on 19 October in England and Wales.

This organisation does great work educating young people and adults, often taking famous footballers who give up their time into schools.

The organisation is supported by trade unions in the UK. Some leaders were at the event and spoke passionately about their personal experiences of racism on the street in the UK and how since the vote to leave the EU these experiences have increased. This educational work is vital in the campaign against racism in our society and there’s something we can all do to help with this.
