Published: 16 April 2020 Society events postponed until further notice

The Society has sent an email to members giving an update about scheduled events for 2020 and nominations for the CoR Gold Medal award.

The Society has postponed or cancelled the following events until later this year or to 2021:

  • Annual Delegates Conference (April)
  • UKIO (June)
  • Annual Student Conference (June)
  • Presidential Inauguration (July)
  • Radiography Awards (November)

The email says, "As part of the Society’s centenary celebrations, we were also due to acknowledge exceptional professional excellence with our Gold Medal Awards, presented at a special Centenary Gala Dinner event in September.

"This will now be postponed alongside the above listed events; the nomination process for the Gold Medals will be re-opened later in the year.

"Please note, however, that all existing nominations are secure and anyone currently working on a nomination will naturally be welcome to submit at any time."

More information about rescheduled events will be in the May edition of Synergy News.

In the email, Society CEO Richard Evans says, “There is no single ‘correct’ way to deal with this unprecedented event. And I am sure each of our members will experience some “good” days and other ‘not so good’ days.

“One thing I would like to impress on you though, is however you are feeling at any moment, please be kind to yourself if you can."

Richard added, "If you follow us on social media, you may have noticed ‘#RadiatingPositivity’ on many of our posts. The SoR Student Representative Forum came up with this amazing campaign, and I’d like to encourage you all to get involved.

"All you have to do is share your positive stories from both in and out of work using #RadiatingPositivity. To view my supporting video message celebrating our members, please see here."
