RSI compensation

An employer who failed to listen to a member of staff who was suffering repetitive strain injury (RSI) has made a compensation payout of £115,000 after the Society took up the case.

The sonographer and SoR member complained of work-related RSI in her shoulder but the employer didn't respond to her concerns.

The member asked the Society to take up her case and Howard Kennedy, the trade union's solicitors, negotiated the settlement.

"The SoR's 'Don't leave it too late!' campaign reminds members who have suffered a work-related injury to contact us as soon as possible," commented Ian Cloke, the Society's health and safety officer.

"This advice also applies if you have been the subject of a complaint at work. Delay may compromise access to effective representation."
