Following a UK Council election ballot held in April, the South East and Eastern regions have had council members appointed.
All eligible members in these regions were invited to vote to decide which candidates to elect.
The South Eastern region representative on UK Council, Sophia Watts, has been newly elected to UK Council, while Rachel Nolan has been re-elected to her position as representative for the Eastern region for the fourth and final time.
SoR president elect, Katie Thompson, said: “As a member organisation it is a great opportunity to get involved in the operations and management of the SoR, with influence on both policy and organisation direction now is an exciting time with the launch of the strategy giving us clear focus for new board directors to help deliver.”
Sophia is a senior radiographer who has been involved in industrial relations representation since 2012.
As part of her election's address, she said: "I will listen and represent the views of members to the best of my ability. Together, we can achieve great things."
In her role on UK Council, Sophia will contribute to the strategic leadership and governance of the SoR, helping to oversee the delivery of the Society’s 2024–27 Strategy and ensuring that the voice of all members informs national planning and direction.
Rachel is also the current SoR vice president, and from July, she will become the president elect.
Rachel said: "I’m proud to be a member of UK Council representing the region and radiographers nationally. The radiography and radiotherapy workforce must have a voice. I vow to continue the work I have achieved in the past three years sitting on UK Council and as I move through to president, use this platform to continue this work".
Rachel was elected by a vote of 191 to 104, with a turnout of 12 per cent, while Sophia was elected with a vote of 245 to 122, with a turnout of 10 per cent.
