All members of the Society of Radiographers can now sign up to join the organisation’s LGBTQI+ Equalise Workers Group at London Pride 2025.

Each year London Pride sees around 3,500 people and 500 different groups - including businesses, communities and trade union bodies like the SoR - join the march to celebrate the LGBTQI+ community.

London Pride 2025 will take place on Saturday 5 July and those who wish to join the SoR and be part of the parade, can sign up here.

Kyle Cox, secretary of the LGBTQI+ Equalise workers group, thanked the SoR for supporting London Pride and encouraged members to join the Equalise group at the event.

"It is fantastic to see the SoR supporting London Pride again this year and supporting us as the Equalise LGBTQI+ team to organise the event,” he said. “We are really privileged to have the support of the society and fantastic allies within our profession and we know first-hand that both our colleagues and patients benefit from this.

"It would be fantastic to see members sign up so that we can show and celebrate our diverse community that we have within radiography, as well as the diverse patients that we work with and support day in and day out. It is also a really fun day and a great way to meet other people within the profession!"

SoR and Pride

London Pride 2025 is far from the first Pride the SoR has attended. In 2024, the SoR attended Glasgow’s Pride and marched in the parade. A recap of the day was featured in the September 2024 edition of Synergy, which you can read here.

The SoR was also active at Pride events in 2023, attending Prides in London and Belfast as well as UK Black Pride that year. In London, the SoR co-sponsored a double decker bus with the Royal Free London.

Chris Agathokleous, deputy chair of the LGBTQI+ Equalise workers group, explained how joining in with events like Pride shows others that radiography is inclusive, both for colleagues and patients.

“The Society of Radiographers is excited to be back at London Pride this year and we would be thrilled to have you join us,” he said. “By joining the SoR Equalise LGBTQI+ team, you are not just taking part in the parade, but you are also helping to show patients and professionals alike that radiography is a place where everyone belongs.”

“Whether you are LGBTQI+ or an ally, your presence matters. Pride is a chance to celebrate who we are, stand up for inclusion in healthcare, and have an amazing day out with colleagues and friends. It’s fun, full of energy, and it really does make a difference!”
