The May edition of Synergy is now available to all SoR members.

This month, find out more about the upcoming UK Imaging and Oncology congress and why you should attend; get familiar with Professor Theo Akudjedu’s novel Medical Imaging with Management course; and meet Nnaemeka Ugwu, UK Council’s newest member for the Northern region.

May’s edition also features a profile on Lindsay Batty-Smith, a mammographer who helped spark NHS England’s first-ever breast cancer screening awareness campaign, and a deep dive into the world of radiography apprenticeships at Sheffield Hallam University.

Radiographers at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust also shared their experience with developing a hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance ultrasound programme, and what they learned along the way.

On April 1, the SoR officially relaunched its manifesto and publicised its strategy document at the Houses of Parliament – attendees told Synergy about the importance of the day.

Highlights this month:

  • Medical Imaging with Management: Bournemouth’s unique radiography course
  • Q&A with UK Council Rep Nnaemeka Ugwu: ‘Membership is sacrosanct’
  • National Breast Screening Programme: ‘Mammographers have a prime opportunity’
  • The role of apprenticeships in supporting the diagnostic radiography workforce: curriculum design and outcomes
  • From leadership to collaboration: why the AHP Quality and Safety Senior Leadership Programme is essential for radiographers
