Mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations: HEE information for students

Health Education England (HEE) has updated their vaccination guidance for healthcare students and trainees.

Health Education England (HEE) in collaboration with the Council of Deans of Health have updated their vaccination guidance for healthcare students and trainees undertaking clinical placements.

Being vaccinated is now a condition of deployment due to the governments new legislation that requires health and social care workers in England (who work directly with patients) to provide evidence they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, unless they have a medical exemption.

This means all students who are unvaccinated, would have to receive both doses by the 1 April 2022 deadline to continue their clinical placements.

While the SoR, in common with other health unions, is opposed to the principle of compulsion (as we would always support persuasion), we do encourage everyone who does not have a clear medical exemption to be fully vaccinated.
