The Society of Radiographers is urging members to complete a survey on the role of AI in healthcare.

Skills for Health, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of the health workforce in the UK, has launched the survey to gain an understanding of how artificial intelligence is impacting job roles.

The anonymous survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, asks participants to share their experiences of using AI and the challenges they may face.

Representing radiographers

Jeanette Carter, the SoR’s professional officer for clinical imaging and AI, said: “Here at the Society, we encourage the radiographer workforce to take part in the AI and the future of the healthcare workforce survey 2026, to ensure that we have the viewpoint of the radiographer workforce included in the research.

“Radiography is one of the healthcare professions most using, or potentially using, AI within their work and it would be great to see this represented within this research.”

Skills for Health said that results will help inform future workforce planning, training and policy development, as well as contribute to the wider discussions around the safe and effective use of AI.

Important questions remain

The organisation said: “Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly prominent role in how health services are delivered, with significant national investment accelerating its adoption across the NHS. While the potential to improve patient experience and support new ways of working is clear, important questions remain about what these changes mean for the workforce.

"In response, Skills for Health has launched a new survey to better understand how AI is already shaping roles, skills and day-to-day practice across the healthcare sector."

Skills for Health added that the survey aims to capture frontline perspectives on how AI is being used in practice, as well as the opportunities it presents for improving care and workforce productivity.

It will also explore any concerns or risks associated with its growing adoption, alongside the skills, education and training needed to support the workforce in the years ahead.
