Update: Scottish Council Annual General Meeting cancelled

A notification from the Scottish Council AGM on arrangements related to Covid-19

Published: 12 November 2020 Scotland

This notice is to advise that the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the Scottish Council has been cancelled as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to ensure continuity of activity, a recent meeting of the Scottish Council considered the principle matters relevant to the AGM and the following actions taken:

  • The financial return for the 2019 -2020 year was considered and the outcome approved. Members will understand that activities over most of the year have been heavily curtailed and therefore financial transactions have not followed the usual profile of income and expenditure. Specifically there has been far less general expenditure.

  • Positions on Scottish Council have been reviewed and in general, existing positions are being carried over to the coming year. This position will be reviewed as the new year progresses, however there are a number of outstanding vacancies for seats on Council, for specific roles and those ‘without portfolio’.

It is very important for SCoR’s effectiveness in Scotland that we have a dynamic Council that can promote member interests across the profession and with Government. Scottish Council activities form a legitimate and highly relevant form of professional development so there are positive benefits to involvement. Remember, Scotland’s health and social care system is fully devolved so Scottish Council’s role is critical in pursuing the profession’s interests in Scotland. We rely on professional engagement to function effectively and welcome contribution from all members.

If you have an interest in supporting the profession, get in touch and get involved.

Contribute to the SCoR’s policy stance on Scottish matters and help us to interact more widely with the profession, Scottish Government and other bodies.

If you would like to discuss roles on Scottish Council or maybe just the activities we are involved in, please drop me a line.
