The Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) are two separate companies operating together to provide service and support for those involved in radiography. Together they comprise the professional body and trade union for those practicing in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

The Society of Radiographers has an exciting opportunity to join our team of National and Regional Officers. We are looking for a positive and knowledgeable leader with the skills, capacity and enthusiasm to influence and lead on all aspects of industrial relations and professional practice across Wales.

The successful applicant will advise, support and coach our team of local Representatives working across Health boards and private sector Health providers in all areas of their work supporting SoR members.

They will work with the current National Officer as part of a shared role. They will be proactive in the development of Health Policy for Wales, whilst ensuring members and the Council for the Society are encouraged to assist with this objective.

They will also seek to influence national Health policy and outcomes for SoR members by making representations to employers and wider stakeholders. These include the Welsh Parliament, in partnership with the Society’s Welsh Executive Committee, other health unions and health bodies in Wales.

They’ll also help co-ordinate and deliver our Representative recruitment, development and training programmes to maximise the effectiveness of local member support and engagement across Wales with opportunities to help shape and develop our UK wide programmes.

The role allows a high degree of flexibility and will be home based, although there is a requirement for extensive travel, including some overnight stays away from home, particularly given the National nature of the role.

Who we are looking for

  • As well as a broad understanding of health and social care policy, as this is a specialised role, you will be a HCPC registered radiographer.   
  • You will have some experience of industrial relations including a working understanding of key employment law and regulation; ACAS Codes and expected employment practices and procedures, along with some experience of industrial relations case management. 
  • Experience of leading successful campaigns either locally, regionally or nationally and a demonstrable understanding of how policy or practice can best be changed in ways that involve wider stakeholders is desirable. 
  • You will have a demonstrable understanding of how being a Professional body has on the SoR’s trade union and industrial relations activities, and the value and challenges this offers.
  • You will have a high level of confidence and communication skills, and be highly organised and proficient in managing your workload.
