World Radiography Day 2018 poster competition

13 June, 2018
2017 WRD poster winner
A winning poster from 2017

We want your ideas for this year’s World Radiography Day posters.

Designs are chosen to be included in the packs sent to the more than 400 departments who request them for World Radiography Day in November.

Achieve lasting fame and admiring glances from your colleagues. The posters have the winner’s name printed on them and many departments display them for months after World Radiography Day celebrations.

Designers of the chosen posters receive a cash prize and a framed copy of their winning design.

It is a brilliant opportunity to inform patients and visitors about the profession and the role of radiographers.

We are asking you to design a poster with one of the following themes:

  • Radiographers - 70 years of the NHS
  • Radiographers - Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice
  • Radiographers - At the heart of a healthier nation
  • Radiographers - The professionals behind the image and the treatment
  • Radiographers - In partnership with patients

Get your poster design into departments across the UK and show the public what the profession is all about.

What’s the prize?

  1. Cash equivalent to a year’s free membership of the SCoR
  2. A framed copy of your poster
  3. Your poster printed and displayed in hundreds of departments across the UK

How do I enter?

  • Design a poster you believe will do your profession proud and present it in a positive way to the public.
  • You can submit as many entries as you like.
  • You may use any medium you wish, from paints and pens to Photoshop or Word. It can be a collage, a drawing, or whatever format you prefer and find easiest.
  • You must be a member of the Society of Radiographers.

In what format should I send my design?
Scan or take a photo of the design (if it’s not digital) to create a digital file.

Email it to publisher@synergymagazine.co.uk by Friday, 13 July 2018.

Who will judge my design?
The Society’s Communications Management Group, which is made up of members and officers from the organisation. Members of the CMG are not eligible to enter.

Remember
You don’t need to be a designer or artist. This is a competition open to everyone who is a member of the Society.

Hints and tips
Richard Evans, the Society’s chief executive officer, says, “Your concept doesn’t need to be perfect. It can be as simple as a pencil sketch. It’s the ideas that are important, not how they are presented.

“Your design will be sensitively translated to a standard that can be printed on a poster. It’s your inspiration we’re looking for. It needs to stand out from the crowd. The more striking the idea, the better!”
