Special Interest Group - Health Improvement/Public Health in Radiography

Rationale

This special interest group is for radiographers, educators and students interested in health improvement and public health provision within diagnostic and therapeutic radiography practice.

There is a need to embed preventative healthcare within the allied health professions including Radiography and as a profession we have signed up to a collective ambition to result in the allied health workforce professions an integral part of the public health workforce.

There are variations in practice between departments and there are some excellent examples of good practice that could be shared across the profession and to provide evidence to Public Health England of our contribution. This group aims to share good practice and enable knowledge transfer across the profession to drive forward the public health agenda within our field in clinical practice and academia.

Aims

The aims of this group are to:

  • Share good practice and assist with overcoming of barriers to brief public health interventions within radiography in the clinical setting and the embedding of public health within the pre registration curriculum
  • Encourage early adopters and practitioners interested in this field to collaborate to support service improvement and research collaborations where appropriate
  • Provide a central place for the sharing of resources (policy/learning materials for example)
  • Publicise CPD opportunities and encourage networking
